Japan smartphone can be unlocked with a glance Japan smartphone unlocked
A high-tech new smartphone that users can unlock with their eyes alone is due to go on sale in Japan this month.
The new phone is fitted with iris recognition technology that enables users to activate the device with a glance alone.
The iris scanning technology built into the phone will allow owners to use their eyes to unlock passwords, sign into apps and authorise payments while shopping.
The smartphone, created by the electronics giant Fujitsu, claims to be the first in the world to use “biometric authentication using iris recognition” technology, according to NTT Docomo, the mobile phone provider which will sell the device from the end of this month.
